from the mother of Charles Robb, former U.S. Senator from Virginia,
who lived and was married there.

The VESTIBULE

The Vestibule as seen from the Stoop
with the two front doors fully open
to show the interior door going to the Hallway.
Inside The vestibule had once, to the left,
been an armoire for guests to place their coats
and, to the right, hanging on the east wall,
had hung a very large framed aerial photograph
of the entire Georgetown neighborhood, ca. 1955,
that clearly showed the House
when its front was still the unpainted red brick.
The lighted ceiling lamp shown now in the Vestibule
originally had hung in the Hallway,
but by the mid-1960s was moved here
to make way for the survivor of the
two chandeliers that were once in The Great Room.
